What we collect

When you create an account we store your username, email address and a securely hashed password. When you use the site we store the activities you save, pictures you upload, scores you earn and basic usage counts.

How we use it

To run your account, show leaderboards and community pages (username only), and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal information. Public activities and your username on leaderboards are visible to other visitors.

Pictures

Only upload images you have the right to use. Do not upload pictures of students or other identifiable people unless you have permission. You can delete your pictures at any time from Account & Images.

Photos in Photo Board

Photo Board shows photos from your phone on the classroom screen. A photo is checked and saved again as a plain picture on our server, only so the classroom screen can show it. It is not added to your account, your pictures or any activity, and nobody else can see it. It is permanently deleted as soon as you stop presenting (or within a few hours at the latest if the screen is closed without stopping). Please do not photograph students' faces or names.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in and protect forms. We load fonts and icons from Google Fonts and cdnjs.

AI assist

Teachers can choose to use AI assist to make words, meanings and questions. When they do, the text they chose to send (for example a reading passage or a topic) is passed to a third-party AI service for processing. The service used at the moment: Google Gemini, OpenAI.

It is sent only when a teacher presses an AI button and confirms the notice. We do not send names, email addresses or other account details with it, and AI assist is not available to students.

Teachers can also choose to send a photo of a textbook page so AI assist can read the words on it. The photo goes to a Google Gemini service for that one request only; we do not store it, and teachers are asked to keep people and faces out of the picture.

We keep a record that a request was made (who, when, which kind, whether it worked) to apply limits and fix problems. We do not keep the text that was sent or the answer after the request has finished.

The AI service handles the text under its own privacy terms. Some services, especially free ones, may use submitted text to improve their products, so please never include students' names or other personal information. Contact support@gamesinclass.com if you want AI assist turned off for your account.
